USC's Holiday Bowl Triumph with Miller Moss's Six TDs

SAN DIEGO - USC capped off its time in the Pac-12 Conference with an impressive show, as Miller Moss, making his collegiate starting debut, threw an outstanding six touchdown passes in the Holiday Bowl. The Trojans closed the season on a high note, defeating No. 16 Louisville 42-28 on Wednesday night, and even coach Lincoln Riley got in on the celebration with a tub of eggnog poured over his head.

Caleb Williams, the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner, chose to sit out the game, but he enthusiastically cheered on his team from the sidelines. Redshirt senior wide receiver Tahj Washington stepped up and contributed with two touchdown receptions, showcasing the depth of talent on the Trojans' roster.

The decision to play in the bowl game was driven by a strong senior leadership group, according to Moss. He credited their commitment to setting an example, making it easy for him to follow suit. Wideout Kyron Hudson, who made a significant impact with a blocked punt and a scoring reception, expressed confidence in Moss, stating that his performance bodes well for the team's future.

Moss seized the opportunity presented by Williams' absence, delivering a stellar performance with 372 yards and six touchdown passes. His remarkable feat broke the Holiday Bowl record and established a new mark for quarterbacks making their first start for USC. The Trojans, who had faced a challenging season, losing three straight games and five of six, found redemption in Moss's exceptional display.

With this win, USC bid farewell to Pac-12 football, as they are set to join the Big Ten next season alongside other Pac-12 teams. Coach Riley expressed his satisfaction with the victory, emphasizing the joy of the win amid the changes and challenges faced by the team.

Louisville's Isaac Guerendo put up a commendable effort with 161 yards and three touchdowns, but it wasn't enough to overcome USC's offensive prowess. Quarterback Jack Plummer faced adversity with a dislocated pinky but soldiered on. Moss's connection with Washington and Hudson, along with Guerendo's efforts, ultimately secured the Trojans' triumph.

Despite an interception setback early in the third quarter, Moss remained resilient, throwing crucial passes to maintain the lead. USC's dominant performance showcased their resilience and determination, capping off their Pac-12 era with a memorable victory in the Holiday Bowl.
